A United States lawmaker representing Virginia’s Second District, Rep Riley M. Moore, has declared that the US will not withdraw its support for Nigerian Christians following recent threats issued by ISIS terrorists.
Moore made the declaration during an interview with Newsmax while reacting to a statement allegedly released by ISIS, warning Christians in Nigeria to choose between death and Islam.
During the interview, Moore said that under the directive of President Donald Trump, the United States would continue to assist Nigeria with military support and combat resources.
He said: “ISIS recently issued a statement saying Christians of Nigeria must either convert or die.
“We will never back down from supporting our brothers and sisters in Christ, and I’m glad to see the Nigerian government is working in coordination and cooperation with President Trump to defeat these radical Islamic terrorists”.
The development comes weeks after US forces reportedly launched an airstrike on terrorists’ hideouts in Sokoto State on Christmas night, deploying around 12 Tomahawk missiles during the operation.
