Bayer Leverkusen striker Victor Boniface has spoken out following the collapse of his anticipated move to AC Milan, using Instagram to push back against claims of unprofessionalism from sections of the Nigerian media.
In a post written in Pidgin English, Boniface appeared to mock critics who have questioned his seriousness:
“Boniface no serious he dey everywhere
I dey club like Leverkusen and club like Milan want me and I no serious
So if I serious na club for Jupiter I go dey play
Clowns everywhere
If I no serious and I dey this level make I remain like that.”
The message came after some Nigerian outlets accused him of being “too chronically online,” suggesting that his playful social media presence contributed to the breakdown of his transfer.
However, Boniface has made it clear that his failed move had nothing to do with media narratives. He reportedly asked renowned football journalist Fabrizio Romano to take down a post implying Nigerian coverage played a role, insisting the deal collapsed purely for medical reasons.
AC Milan had been close to sealing a deal for the 23-year-old forward, but concerns reportedly emerged over his fitness during medical examinations, particularly given his history of knee and muscle injuries.
Boniface’s statement reinforces that his career setbacks stem from health checks rather than questions about his professionalism—while also showing he has lost none of his trademark humor and confidence.
