Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen reportedly threatened to leave the national team and return to Turkey following a disagreement with teammate Ademola Lookman.

The 27-year-old became frustrated during Nigeria’s 4-0 victory over Mozambique at the ongoing 2025 Africa Cup of Nations on Monday. Having scored twice from Lookman’s assists, Osimhen reacted angrily in the 64th minute when he felt Lookman failed to pass the ball to him.

He signaled for a substitution and was replaced by Moses Simon. After the match, Osimhen reportedly stormed out of the stadium, dropping his accreditation card, and declared he was “done” with the Super Eagles, insisting on flying back to Turkey.

The situation was later diffused by senior officials of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), who calmed the striker.
