80 Abducted Worshipers Escape From Bandits
Worshippers abducted during a church service in Kurmin Wali village, Kajuru Local Government Area of Kaduna State, have begun finding their way back home after a daring escape from their captors.
The incident followed an attack on the community, initially believed to have led to the abduction of about 177 people.
Fresh checks by local leaders later showed that 80 victims managed to flee the bandits’ hideout and reached nearby communities, while 86 worshippers are still being held.
The village head, Ishaku Dan’azumi, confirmed the development and said families are deeply shaken by the ordeal.
He raised concern over attempts to turn the tragedy into a political issue at a time when affected households are struggling to cope with fear and distress.
He called on the government and security forces to step up efforts to rescue those still in captivity, warning that time is critical.
Police authorities in Kaduna say an official update on the abduction and ongoing response will be released soon.
