Bayo Ojulari, Group Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), has raised concerns over threats to his life and those of the company’s top management.
Speaking on Thursday while hosting a delegation from the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN), led by President Festus Osifo, at NNPCL headquarters in Abuja, Ojulari alleged that powerful interests are plotting to remove him due to reforms he has introduced in the oil and gas sector under President Bola Tinubu’s directive to revive Nigeria’s moribund refineries.
Ojulari revealed that the company is working to restore the refineries to full capacity, exploring options similar to the NLNG model to achieve efficiency. Despite the threats, he vowed to stay focused on ensuring the facilities operate effectively.
“I’m not hiding from anybody. I’m not a politician,” he said. “I will have to learn a bit more about politics, but it’s a development plan for me, right? And I’m ready to learn.”
