ASUU Issues Four Day Ultimatum To FG
The Academic Staff Union of Universities has given the Federal Government a four-day deadline to implement the new salary structure for lecturers across Nigeria’s universities.
The union said the demand is part of ongoing efforts to improve the welfare of academic staff and address long-standing concerns over pay and working conditions.
It warned that failure to act within the ultimatum could lead to further steps by the union.
ASUU has had a history of disputes with the government over funding, salaries and university reforms, often leading to disruptions in the academic calendar.
The latest move raises concerns about possible tension in the education sector if the issue is not resolved quickly.
The Federal Government is yet to issue an official response, but pressure is mounting as students and parents watch closely to avoid another round of disruptions in public universities.
