Bandits Strike Again In Kaduna After Worshippers Abduction
Bandits have struck again in Kaduna State, abducting four travellers in Kajuru Local Government Area just days after the mass kidnapping of 177 worshippers in Kurmin Wali community.
The attack happened on Friday evening along the Maro–Kajuru road as the victims were returning from Maro Market.
They were travelling in a Peugeot Boxer bus when armed men intercepted the vehicle near Kuturu Buzu, only a short distance from Kurmin Wali where the earlier abduction occurred.
A community source confirmed that the assailants forced the travellers into the bush after stopping the vehicle.
“The victims were on their way back from purchasing items at Maro Market when the bandits attacked and dragged them into the bush,” the source said.
The latest incident has worsened fear across Kajuru and nearby communities, with residents expressing frustration over the repeated attacks and the continued freedom of armed groups in the area.
Efforts to get a response from the Kaduna State Police Command were unsuccessful, as calls and messages to the police spokesperson were unanswered.
Beyond Kaduna, insecurity is also spreading across parts of southern Katsina State, where residents report renewed threats, killings and kidnappings despite earlier peace talks with bandits.
Communities say attackers now openly place phone calls to demand levies and issue threats, a situation locals link to weak security presence and which has forced many families to flee their homes.
“The bandits call people on the phone, threatening them and demanding money. We don’t see enough security personnel here, and that is why they are bold,” a resident said
