The mysterious death of Comfort Jimtop Oliver, a 100-level student of Taraba State University (TSU) who was reportedly found dead at her boyfriend’s residence in Jalingo, has taken a disturbing twist.
Her suspected boyfriend, Emmanuel Kefas, a 2024 graduate of Human Kinetics from the same university, was also discovered dead in the Tudiri community, a few meters from Jalingo, the state capital.
Residents suspect Emmanuel may have taken his own life following Comfort’s death in his house.
Both Comfort and Emmanuel lived in the Bakasi area of Jalingo, about 200 meters apart, near Dr. Rapha Memorial Guest Inn by the Vice-Chancellor’s Gate. Comfort, an indigene of Takum Local Government Area and a member of the Kuteb ethnic group, was said to have been in a relationship with Emmanuel since his days as a student.
A senior police officer disclosed that empty bottles of hard drinks were found beside the bed where Comfort’s body was discovered.
The Taraba State Police Command has launched an investigation into the incident.
