Michael Reagan, the eldest son of former President Ronald Reagan and actress Jane Wyman, has passed away at his home in Los Angeles at the age of 80, the Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation and Institute confirmed on Sunday.
Throughout his life, Reagan worked to preserve and promote his father’s legacy, building a career as a conservative author and radio talk show host. He was widely recognized for defending the principles of the Reagan administration, which emphasized limited government and played a key role in ending the Cold War.
“Michael Reagan lived a life shaped by conviction, purpose, and an abiding devotion to President Reagan’s ideals,” the foundation said in a statement.
His father, Ronald Reagan, died in 2004 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease.
