China Rejects US Claims On Nigeria
The Chinese government has dismissed claims by five U.S. lawmakers that it is supporting illegal mining activities and financing armed groups in Nigeria, calling the allegations entirely unfounded.
Officials from Beijing said there is no evidence linking China to militia operations or illicit mining in the West African nation, stressing that the accusations lack factual support.
The response comes amid growing scrutiny of foreign investments in Nigeria’s resource sector, with lawmakers in the United States urging action against entities they claim are destabilising local communities.
China reaffirmed its commitment to lawful trade and investment in Nigeria, insisting that all its projects follow local regulations and do not fund violence or illegal activities.
