The High Court of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja Judicial Division, has granted interim bail to former Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, SAN, in his ongoing case with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.
The ruling was delivered by Justice Bello Kawu.
According to the court documents, the bail was approved under the same conditions earlier set by the EFCC, which include the surrender of Malami’s international passport and the provision of two sureties.
The sureties consist of the Director-General of the Nigerian Legal Aid Council and a serving member of the House of Representatives representing the Augie/Argungu Federal Constituency.
The court also reaffirmed and reinstated the earlier bail conditions dated 28 November 2025, which required the submission of the applicant’s passport and the fulfilment of the surety provisions.
Justice Bello Kawu ruled that the interim bail was granted on the grounds of exceptional hardship, pending the hearing and determination of the substantive motion on notice.
The case has now been adjourned to 5 January 2026, when the court will hear the motion on notice.
