Court Refuses Bid To Stop Kingibe From ADC
The Federal High Court in Abuja has rejected an attempt to bar Ireti Kingibe from participating in the activities of the African Democratic Congress.
The application was filed by some ward leaders in Wuse who claimed the senator had been suspended.
Justice Peter Lifu declined to grant the ex parte request, ruling that the lawmaker must first be notified and given a chance to respond.
The court said fairness requires both sides to present their arguments before any decision is made.
The plaintiffs, said to be loyal to Nyesom Wike, had asked the court to stop Kingibe from acting as a member of the party or taking part in its activities.
They also wanted her barred from attending meetings and interfering in ward affairs.
They argued that her suspension followed due process and accused her of misconduct, including holding parallel meetings and ignoring party rules.
However, a lawyer representing the senator told the court that a preliminary objection had already been filed to challenge the suit.
The judge ordered that all court documents be served on Kingibe and adjourned the case to April 20, 2026, when the matter will be heard.
