Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde on Tuesday presented a brand-new Sports Utility Vehicle to popular gospel singer and broadcaster Yinka Ayefele, chairman of Ibadan-based Fresh FM Radio 105.9, following a fire that engulfed the Music House last Friday.
The fire, which gutted the Music House, destroyed property worth millions of naira, according to reports by The PUNCH.
During the presentation in Ibadan, the governor praised Ayefele for his resilience and his contributions to the entertainment and media sectors in Oyo State and across Nigeria. Represented by the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, Otunba Ademola Ojo, Makinde handed over the keys to the visibly moved broadcaster.
At the Ayefele Music House in Challenge, Ibadan, Governor Makinde said, “On behalf of the State Government, we are here to commiserate with you. You are a symbol of perseverance and inspiration to millions of Nigerians. On behalf of the Governor and the state government, we present this gift to you.”
Makinde had earlier visited the station a day after the fire to console Ayefele and assess the damage.
