The Independent National Electoral Commission has approved 14 political parties to take part in the Osun governorship election, leaving out the Peoples Democratic Party.

The list was released on Sunday after the close of submissions for candidates and their running mates.

According to the commission, the parties met the deadline and uploaded all required documents through its official portal.

The clearance followed the conclusion of party primaries and a review of submissions at INEC headquarters in Abuja.

The parties cleared for the race include Accord, Action Alliance, African Action Congress, African Democratic Congress, Action Democratic Party, All Progressives Grand Alliance, All Progressives Congress, Allied Peoples Movement, Action Peoples Party, Boot Party, New Nigeria Peoples Party, Peoples Redemption Party, Young Progressives Party, and Zenith Labour Party.

INEC said the move is in line with the Electoral Act and its timetable for the poll, urging the public to inspect the published documents.

The commission added that only the listed parties are eligible to contest and assured stakeholders of a transparent process.
