Kwara State Crackdown On Street Begging
The Kwara State Government has stepped up its action against street begging after security agents arrested a man in Igbaja, Ifelodun Local Government Area, who allegedly posed as a beggar while linked to banditry.
The suspect was picked up during routine checks in the community, raising concerns about the use of begging as a cover for criminal activity.
Officials said the development has prompted a wider sweep across parts of the state.
Authorities noted that the renewed operation aims to protect residents and restore order in public spaces.
They added that anyone found using street begging as a front for crime would face the law.
The government urged members of the public to remain alert and report suspicious movements, as security agencies continue investigations into the suspect and possible accomplices.
