The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, has formally dissociated himself from a political article titled “Malagi 2027,” which discussed possible situations ahead of the 2027 Niger State governorship election.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, the minister’s office explained that the article was released without approval by one of his aides, Sa’idu Enagi, stressing that the views expressed in the publication do not reflect Idris’ position or intentions.
“The write-up and all its contents are hereby vehemently disclaimed,” the statement declared, advising members of the public to disregard the publication.
The statement further explained that the minister remains fully focused on his responsibilities at the Federal Ministry of Information and National Orientation and has no interest in, nor tolerance for, political distractions or premature campaign activities.
It also emphasised that he did not authorise or instruct the circulation of the article in any manner.
Following the development, the minister has directed an immediate investigation into the matter, and the aide involved has been suspended with immediate effect.
The statement additionally highlighted the cordial and mutually beneficial working relationship between the minister and the Niger State Governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago, noting their shared commitment to the growth, peace, and stability of the state.
“Speculations about the 2027 elections would be inimical to these noble objectives,” the statement added.
The disclaimer was signed by Rabiu Ibrahim, Special Assistant (Media) to the minister.
