Missing Photo Causes Anger In Borno As APC Excludes Shettima’s
Tension flared in Maiduguri on Monday after a banner displayed at the North-East zonal public hearing on the amendment of the APC constitution failed to feature Vice-President Kashim Shettima, sparking anger among party leaders and delegates.
The incident happened at a gathering organised by the All Progressives Congress for stakeholders from the North-East, where photographs of President Bola Tinubu, governors from the zone and a national party official were shown, but the Vice-President’s image was missing despite his position and regional roots.
Discontent spread quickly through the venue as party members questioned how such an omission could occur at a high-level event in Borno, Shettima’s home state. Many viewed it as a slight that could stir division within the party at a sensitive time.
The protest drew loud approval from attendees, reflecting broad dissatisfaction among stakeholders who felt the oversight showed poor judgement and risked creating avoidable internal strain within the ruling party.
