Nigeria’s inflation rose to 15.15 percent in December 2025 from 14.45 percent in November, the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) has reported.

The latest Consumer Price Index data showed a 0.7 percent increase in overall prices month-on-month.

Food inflation, on the other hand, declined to 10.84 percent in December from 11.08 percent in November, easing sharply compared to 39.84 percent in December 2024.

“The Consumer Price Index (CPI) reached 131.2 in December 2025, up 0.7 points from November’s 130.5,” the NBS said.

The bureau added that December’s headline inflation was 15.15 percent, lower than November’s 17.33 percent and 19.65 percent below December 2024’s 34.80 percent.

“This shows that year-on-year headline inflation decreased in December 2025 compared with the same month last year, though based on a different reference year (November 2009 = 100),” the report explained.

The figures come amid earlier forecasts predicting a rise in December inflation.
