Bishop David Oyedepo delivered a fierce message to his congregation, declaring that Nigeria will never bow to extremist ideology despite the surge in deadly attacks targeting Christian communities.
He urged believers to stay unwavering, describing the Church as unbreakable and condemning the violence that has claimed lives and torn families apart. His comments followed a disturbing series of assaults, including the shooting of five worshippers during service and the abduction of 35 villagers, whose captors are demanding a ₦100 million ransom.
Addressing the unfolding security crisis, Oyedepo called down curses on those behind the killings and kidnappings, insisting that their actions have provoked divine judgment. He told the church that their prayers would unleash consequences on the masterminds of the violence.
His declaration echoed through the service:
“Nigeria will never become an Islamic state. Never, never! The church of Christ in Nigeria is indestructible. The gates of hell cannot prevail against thee. The battle is raging, Islamic jihadists are roaring, but we belong to a higher realm of authority.
5 people shot dead in church last week, 35 abductees, and they are demanding a 100 million from a village setting. Every perpetrator and their sponsors come under a curse today. When this church prays, God hears. In the camp of the wicked, there shall be catastrophe. Everyone behind it, within the next seven days, they are smelling, they’re stinking.”
