Nollywood actress Nkechi Blessing has announced that she is walking away from movie production after recording massive losses.
The actress disclosed that since September, she has invested more than N80 million into producing films but has not earned up to N1 million in return. She lamented that movies without heavy promotion struggle to get viewers, leaving producers like her at a disadvantage.
Expressing her frustration, Nkechi said she would rather focus on enjoying her life and travelling than continue pouring money into projects that do not receive attention.
She wrote:
“I give up.
I no do again, abeg.
I have spent over 80 million naira producing movies since September, and I haven’t received even one million back.
I no do again abeg.
Make I go back to flying around the world.
As una no gree watch film if the Movie is not over hyped, I don try.
The ones we were there for self no even fit help.
I am done abeg!”
Her comments have reignited conversations about the financial struggles many filmmakers face in the Nollywood industry, especially in the absence of strong hype and promotion.
