Officers of the Nigeria Police Force have taken possession of the Azbir Hotel and Azbir Arena, properties owned by the former Attorney-General of the Federation, AGF, and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami SAN, in Kebbi State.
This action follows an investigation by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, over allegations of money laundering and abuse of office linked to the former minister.
It will be recalled that the anti-corruption agency invited Malami for questioning on November 28.
Earlier, Malami had raised serious concerns, alleging what he described as threatening conduct by the EFCC, after its operatives carried out coordinated raids on his offices and private residences in Abuja and Kebbi State.
A former spokesman for the South-East to President Bola Tinubu, Josef Onoh, had accused Malami of hypocrisy and a disregard for the rule of law during his tenure.
In a statement, Onoh urged Malami to desist from what he described as attempts to blackmail and intimidate the Chairman of the EFCC, Ola Olukoyede, and instead cooperate with the ongoing investigations.
