Rivers State politics saw a major upheaval on Thursday as the State House of Assembly moved to impeach Governor Siminalayi Fubara and his Deputy, Ngozi Oduh.
During a plenary session chaired by Speaker Martins Amaewhule, Majority Leader Major Jack read a formal notice accusing Governor Fubara of gross misconduct. The document, supported by 26 lawmakers, alleges that the governor’s actions violated provisions of the Nigerian Constitution.
Speaker Amaewhule said the notice would be officially delivered to the governor within seven days.
In the same sitting, Deputy Majority Leader Linda Stewart presented a separate notice outlining similar allegations of gross misconduct against Deputy Governor Oduh.
