Islamic cleric Sheikh Ahmad Gumi has reacted to the reported capture of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro and his wife by the United States, under the leadership of President Donald Trump.
In a post shared on his Facebook page on Saturday, Gumi stated that “Supreme banditry doesn’t attack villages, they attack nations and kidnap leaders,” in what appeared to be a reference to President Trump.
Gumi has long been a strong critic of Trump, particularly since the period of his military involvement in Nigeria.
According to earlier reports, Trump announced the development in a post on his Truth Social platform on Saturday.
This comes months after the United States government increased the financial reward for information leading to Maduro’s arrest to $50 million, over allegations linking him to international drug trafficking.
