Guinness World Record-winning chef Hilda Baci has assured fans that the massive pot for her upcoming jollof rice world record attempt at Eko Hotel and Suites in Lagos is spotless and ready for use.
Taking to Instagram on Friday, Baci revealed that she personally cleaned the six-metre-wide custom-made pot with a branded detergent ahead of the highly anticipated event.
“Yes, I can officially confirm this pot is squeaky clean! I personally rolled up my sleeves and washed it myself,” she wrote, tagging the detergent brand.
“In just a few hours, this same pot will be home to thousands of servings of Nigerian Jollof history in the making,” she added.
A video posted alongside the message showed the chef inside the enormous pot, scrubbing its interior.
“I know you’re probably about to pop your eyeballs out. Why is she inside the pot?” she joked, before explaining:
“The reason I’m inside the pot right now is because I need to wash it thoroughly. Once I’m done, I’ll rinse out all the liquid and go over it again using brand new mopsticks to make sure it’s perfectly clean before we start cooking.”
Baci assured fans that the pot will be fully sanitised, promising to serve “the most amazing, hygienic food you’ve ever eaten.”
The event, held in collaboration with seasoning brand Gino, is free to attend and is expected to attract over 20,000 people as Baci attempts to set a new record for the largest pot of Nigerian jollof rice.
Baci previously made global headlines in May 2023 when she completed a 100-hour cooking marathon in Lagos, a feat that earned her a place in the Guinness World Records.
