Taraba Takes A New Political Turn
The All Progressives Congress has formally received Taraba State Governor Agbu Kefas into its fold, making him the party’s 29th sitting governor.
The event was held on Saturday in Jalingo after an earlier postponement to honour security personnel and civilians killed in terror attacks late last year.
The APC national chairman, Nentawe Yilwatda, handed over the party flag to Kefas and confirmed him as the party leader in Taraba State.
He said the governor’s switch from the Peoples Democratic Party came at a strategic time and would place the state in a better position to access federal programmes under President Bola Tinubu.
The national secretary, Ajibola Basiru, said the party now has a wider spread than any other political group on the continent and welcomed the governor on behalf of its leadership.
Governor Kefas said his decision was guided by the long-term future of Taraba rather than politics.
He explained that the move was aimed at speeding up development, strengthening existing plans, and improving the lives of residents through closer alignment with the federal government.
