Ned Nwoko has responded to the explosive allegation that he offered ₦5 million to have Regina Daniels killed, describing the claim as a malicious fabrication designed to damage his reputation and stir public sympathy through falsehood.

In a statement released via his official X page through his communications team, the senator said a coordinated campaign of online harassment, cyberstalking and defamatory publications has been deliberately targeted at him to mislead the public and push a false narrative of persecution.

“Our attention has been drawn to a renewed pattern of online harassment, cyber stalking and coordinated defamatory videos and publications targeted at Distinguished Senator Ned Nwoko. These actions appear calculated to create a false narrative of persecution in order to serve ulterior motives.”

The statement stressed that the lawmaker remains focused on his legislative duties, development projects and business responsibilities, adding that he has no interest in social media drama or manufactured controversies. However, it noted that allegations of such extreme gravity cannot be brushed aside or left to emotional manipulation.

“Senator Ned is fully engaged in his legislative, developmental and business responsibilities and maintains no interest whatsoever in online distractions or fabricated drama. However, when grave allegations are made, they must be addressed in accordance with the law, not through misinformation or emotional manipulation.”

The communications team also warned that encouraging defamatory behavior and shielding wrongdoing under the guise of public sympathy is fast corroding core societal values.

“We must caution the public that the growing culture of supporting deviant conduct, shielding wrongdoers and attempting to weaponize public sympathy is damaging to our national values. Today, falsehood may be deployed against one individual; tomorrow, it may be directed at anyone.”

Following the viral video that triggered public outrage, Nwoko has instructed his legal representatives to file formal petitions with the Inspector General of Police, the Director-General of the Department of State Services, and the Commissioner of Police in charge of the Cyber Crime Unit. The goal, according to the statement, is to identify those behind the allegation, trace all digital evidence and ensure those responsible face prosecution.

“Accordingly, Senator Ned has instructed his lawyer to file a petition with the Inspector General of Police; Director General DSS; and the Commissioner of Police (Cyber Crime Unit) to investigate and prosecute those responsible for ongoing cyber harassment and criminal defamation. The relevant digital footprints will be traced and lawful action will be pursued.”

The statement also cautioned foreign authorities, specifically in the United States and the United Kingdom, against being misled by what it described as staged family drama designed to gain unfair advantage, particularly in matters relating to asylum.

“Attempts to stage artificial drama around a stable family structure for the purpose of gaining undue advantage are unacceptable. If any frivolous grounds are being put forward to seek asylum, such manoeuvres should be discountenanced.”

Nigerians were urged to ignore what the team described as circulating false narratives and allow security agencies and the legal system to handle the matter objectively.

“Nigerians are encouraged to disregard the false narratives being circulated and allow proper legal processes to proceed. The Senator remains focused on his work and continues to uphold dignity, responsibility and due process.”

The viral accusation involving Regina Daniels had earlier sparked heated reactions across social media, with many demanding immediate investigation. With the senator now activating security agencies, the issue has shifted from online speculation to formal legal scrutiny.
