Britain’s unemployment rate climbed unexpectedly to 5% in the third quarter, marking its highest level since early 2021, official data revealed on Tuesday.
The rate rose from 4.7% in the previous quarter, according to the Office for National Statistics. This increase comes ahead of the UK government’s budget announcement scheduled for November 26, where tax hikes are expected amid sluggish economic growth.
