Umahi Heads To Court Over N250m Debt Claims
David Umahi has moved to take legal action against businesswoman Tracy Ohiri over allegations that he owes her about N250 million linked to his 2015 governorship campaign in Ebonyi State.
The dispute centres on claims by Ohiri that she provided promotional and printing services during the campaign and was not paid.
She also made allegations of misconduct, which later sparked widespread reactions online.
After initially withdrawing her claims in a public apology, Ohiri returned with fresh statements, saying she was pressured into the retraction and that an agreement to settle the matter was not honoured.
Umahi’s media aide said the minister has asked her to present clear evidence to support her claims, insisting the matter should either be proven or resolved in court.
He added that legal proceedings will now begin to establish the facts.
The statement also maintained that Umahi had remained silent for years despite the allegations but decided to act following recent developments.
