US Boosts Nigeria Security
The United States has deployed drones and about 200 troops to Nigeria to support the fight against insurgency through intelligence gathering and military training.
According to reports, the deployment includes MQ-9 drones, known for long-range surveillance, which will focus on tracking militant activities rather than carrying out air strikes.
Officials say the troops will remain in a non-combat role, working alongside Nigerian forces without direct involvement in frontline operations.
The collaboration follows a growing security partnership between both countries, aimed at tackling threats from extremist groups operating בעיקר in the North-East.
Nigerian defence authorities confirmed that the support is already helping improve intelligence sharing and operational planning.
Military officials added that the initiative includes an intelligence fusion system designed to provide real-time information to field commanders, enhancing the country’s response to security threats.
The duration of the deployment is yet to be disclosed, with both countries expected to review the arrangement as operations continue.
