The All Progressives Congress in Cross River State has removed its embattled chairman, Alphonsus Eba, from office.
Eba was impeached by the party’s state executive committee after he repeatedly refused to resign despite mounting pressure from different party factions.
Following his removal, Ntufam Ekum Ojogu has taken over as acting chairman. He will run the party’s affairs pending a state congress where his position will be officially confirmed.
The action was carried out under Section 17(6) of the APC constitution, which authorises the state executive committee to appoint an acting chairman when the substantive one is removed.
