The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has declared former Minister of State for Petroleum Resources and ex-Bayelsa State Governor, Timipre Sylva, wanted over allegations of conspiracy and dishonest conversion involving $14,859,257.
According to the EFCC, the funds in question were part of the investment made by the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) into Atlantic International Refinery and Petrochemical Limited for the construction of a refinery.
A statement issued by the agency’s spokesman, Dele Oyewale, confirmed that a Lagos State High Court issued a warrant for Sylva’s arrest on November 6, 2025.
The notice read: “The public is hereby notified that Timipre Sylva, a former Minister of State for Petroleum Resources and former Governor of Bayelsa State, is wanted by the EFCC in connection with an alleged case of Conspiracy and Dishonest Conversion of $14,859,257. Sylva, 61, hails from Brass Local Government Area of Bayelsa State.”
The EFCC urged anyone with useful information about Sylva’s whereabouts to contact any of its zonal offices across the country or report to the nearest police station.
