The Eastern South Regional Police Command of Ghana has arrested a suspect linked to the murder of Federal Road Safety Corps officer Lasisi Funmilayo Oluwamayokun and her daughter, Sewa Lasisi.

The arrest was announced on Sunday, November 23, during a press briefing by Regional Commander George Ohene-Boadi. The suspect, identified as Victor Benjamin Fejemirokum, was apprehended at a friend’s house in Akyem Wenchi, Akwatia, where he had been hiding.

Ohene-Boadi explained that the arrest followed intelligence reports that Fejemirokum had fled Nigeria to avoid arrest. “This Nigerian man is suspected of killing a woman and her daughter in Nigeria and fleeing to Ghana to evade justice,” he said.

The police commander added that the suspect was traced following the circulation of a viral video alleging that he had abducted and murdered the FRSC officer and her daughter in Abeokuta, Ogun State. “Upon receiving information about his location, our intelligence-led operation successfully apprehended him,” Ohene-Boadi said.

The Ghana Police confirmed that efforts are underway to repatriate the suspect to Nigeria. “He is currently in police custody, and steps are being taken to hand him over to Nigerian authorities,” the commander stated.

The victims, 39-year-old Lasisi Oluwamayokun and her teenage daughter, went missing on November 2 after leaving their home at Obasanjo Hilltop Estate, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta. Lasisi Oluwamayokun, a Superintendent Route Commander, was a senior FRSC officer overseeing multiple routes and coordinating strategic enforcement operations.

Several days later, their mutilated bodies were discovered at a suspected herbalist’s den in Osun State. While the herbalist and other suspects were arrested, the prime suspect had remained at large until his capture in Ghana.

Ogun State Police Commissioner Lanre Ogunlowo stated that the investigation has been transferred to the Osun State Command, with Ogun State police providing support.
