FG Mandates Teacher Licensing Nationwide
The Federal Ministry of Education, under Minister Tunji Alausa, has directed that all teachers in public and private secondary schools must be fully registered and licensed by the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria.
The move is aimed at removing unqualified teachers from classrooms and improving the standard of education across the country.
Authorities say proper licensing will ensure that only trained and certified professionals are allowed to teach students.
The directive applies to both government-owned and private schools, making compliance compulsory nationwide.
Schools are expected to verify the credentials of their teaching staff and ensure they meet the required standards.
Officials say the policy will strengthen professionalism in the education sector and improve learning outcomes, as only qualified educators will be allowed to handle students.
