The remains of former Nasarawa Deputy Governor, Senator Solomon Ewuga, were laid to rest over the weekend in his hometown, Alushi, located in the Nasarawa Eggon Local Government Area.
The funeral service for the late former Minister of the Federal Capital Territory was held at the national headquarters of the Evangelical Reform Church of Christ (ERCC) in Alushi, Nasarawa Eggon.
Governor Abdullahi Sule, while consoling the deceased’s immediate family, described Ewuga’s death as a huge loss not only to his family and Nasarawa North but also to the entire state and the nation.
“Whenever Ewuga visited me, it was to ask for one thing or the other or a community and not for himself,” the governor said.
The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Professor Abdullahi Nentawe Yilwatda, and the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, both emphasised the need for unity among the various groups in the state to foster development.
They praised Senator Ewuga as a detribalised Nigerian who played a key role in the struggle for the creation of Nasarawa State and contributed immensely to its progress.
The funeral was attended by several dignitaries, including former Governors Abdullahi Adamu and Umaru Tanko Al-Makura, former Minister of Environment Barrister Mohammed Hassan Abdullahi, former Deputy Governor and ADC State Chairman Chief Michael Abdul, and the Director General of the National Directorate of Employment, Honourable Silas Agara.
Senator Solomon Ewuga passed away on 23 September 2025 at the age of 70 in Cairo, Egypt, where he had travelled for medical treatment.
