A former Resident Electoral Commissioner in Osun State, Professor Abdulganiy Raji, has died.
Raji, who was a professor at the University of Ibadan, was a native of Ogbomoso in Oyo State.
Until his passing, he was regarded as a key figure within the Muslim community of the University of Ibadan.
The announcement of his death was made on Friday evening in a statement released by the University of Ibadan Muslim community.
According to the statement, the late former REC will be laid to rest in his hometown of Ogbomoso on Saturday.
The statement read, “Inna lillahi wa inna illaehi raajiuun. With a heart that is full of sadness but in total submission to the will of Allah, I am directed by the Chief Imam to announce the demise of a strong pillar of this community, Prof. Abdulganiy Raji.
“His janazah will take place at Ogbomoso tomorrow. The UIMC team will leave the campus for the burial by 6.30 am tomorrow, in shaa Allah. May Allah grant him al-jannah fridaos. Aamin”.
Professor Raji is remembered as a respected academic and a committed contributor to religious and community life.
