This is the inspiring story of Jeremiah Ekuma, popularly known as Jerry Luck — the young man who went viral in 2022 after he was filmed handing out gala snacks to prisoners inside a correctional van.
The heartwarming video drew massive praise across social media, but one person’s reaction changed his life forever — businessman and philanthropist Obi Cubana.
At the time, it was revealed that Jerry had dropped out of law school and relocated to Lagos in search of a livelihood. Moved by his gesture, Obi Cubana stepped in and offered to sponsor his return to school.
He funded Jerry’s education at Ebonyi State University, where he was able to complete his law degree.
Now, in 2025, Jerry has officially graduated.
Sharing the news on Instagram, Obi Cubana celebrated the milestone with a heartfelt message:
“On 19th January 2022 when the offers were placed before you, you chose education! You made the best choice, today you are a 2025 law graduate!!
You could have chosen to take the money and walk away to a temporal comfort and live for the moment, but you were wise to choose education!
Today you have both education and the money, and more ahead!!!
Congratulations Jerry, the world is yours!!!
Thank you my brothers @daddyfreeze @iam_hymans for being part of this great sacrifice.
The bigger job is ahead of us. Jerry MUST be successful!”
Jerry’s story has since been hailed as a powerful reminder of how one act of kindness can change the course of a life.
