PDP Demands Justice After Plateau Massacre
The People’s Democratic Party has called for justice after seven civilians were killed at a mining site in Wat, Kuru District, Jos South LGA, Plateau State, on 21 January 2026.
The attack has been described by the party as a tragic loss of innocent lives and raised concerns over the government’s ability to protect citizens.
PDP leaders criticised authorities for failing to provide adequate security, warning that recurring violence erodes public confidence and threatens democratic stability in the state.
A 2025 fact-finding report commissioned by Governor Caleb M. Mutfwang showed attacks on more than 420 communities, the displacement of thousands, and nearly 12,000 lives lost.
The report also indicated that many attackers came from neighbouring states and described the violence as coordinated and deliberate.
The PDP is demanding a transparent and impartial investigation into the killings, public disclosure of the findings, swift prosecution of those responsible, and a clear plan to prevent further attacks and safeguard civilians.
The party also called on both national and international bodies to monitor the situation closely, stressing the need for action that prioritises human life over political interests and ensures accountability for the victims.
