Portable has announced a ₦500,000 reward for anyone who identifies an impersonator performing his songs on stage.
The singer warned that while copying his style is acceptable, performing his tracks without permission is “a scam.” He stressed his commitment to protecting his music and urged that anyone caught infringing be handed over to the authorities.
Portable stated:
“Good morning everyone, police and soldier. If you see my lookalike performing my song on stage, arrest him and bring him to me. I will pay ₦500,000. ₦500,000 for anybody that sees my lookalike and bring him to me. Any of my lookalike that is performing my song on stage, bring him to me.
“It is a scam. It’s not like you are performing your song; you are performing my song, my song that is on Apple Music. It is a scam. I’m performing my own song. Just bring him to me. I’ll give you ₦500,000 and give him to the police.”
Portable’s move highlights his strict stance on safeguarding his music and discouraging impersonation in the Nigerian music scene.
