WAEC Releases New Timetable
Private candidates preparing for the 2026 West African Senior School Certificate Examination have been given a clearer picture of what lies ahead as the West African Examinations Council released the official timetable for the first series of the test.
The announcement targets candidates writing the examination outside the school system.
The timetable was made public on Tuesday through WAEC’s official X handle, where details of subjects, dates and examination times were shared to guide candidates in planning their studies.
WAEC advised candidates to go through the schedule carefully and confirm their papers, dates and requirements ahead of time.
The council also reminded candidates to follow all examination rules to avoid mistakes that could affect their performance.
The release of the timetable signals the start of final preparations for the 2026 examination, giving candidates and other stakeholders enough time to organise themselves before the assessment begins.
WAEC confirmed that the first series of the CB-WASSCE for private candidates will start on January 28 and will be conducted fully as a computer-based test.
The council said the approach is part of ongoing efforts to modernise the examination process and improve efficiency
