Aston Villa extended their winning streak to 11 matches with a dramatic 2-1 comeback win over Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, thanks to a brace from substitute Ollie Watkins. The result left Chelsea fans booing as their team once again struggled to hold onto a lead.

Chelsea appeared on course for a confidence-boosting victory after João Pedro’s fortunate first-half goal, which capped a dominant opening period for the hosts. But Unai Emery’s second-half substitutions quickly turned the game in Villa’s favour, with Watkins and Morgan Rogers playing key roles in the turnaround.

Under a touchline ban, Chelsea coach Enzo Maresca watched from the stands as his side controlled possession in the first half. Cole Palmer and Enzo Fernández missed good chances, while João Pedro’s deflected corner found the net past Emiliano Martínez. Villa offered little threat before halftime, with Chelsea’s defence comfortably handling Rogers and Donyell Malen. Yet Chelsea failed to extend their lead, a recurring problem.

The match changed shortly before the hour mark when Emery introduced Watkins. His impact was immediate: Rogers set him up for the equaliser, and Watkins converted after Robert Sánchez’s initial save rebounded off him. Villa’s confidence surged as Chelsea’s dominance waned.

Watkins completed the comeback when Rogers delivered a perfect corner, and the striker rose unchallenged to head home, sending the away fans into celebration. Chelsea attempted to respond with further substitutions, but Villa managed the closing stages professionally to secure the memorable victory.
