An unspecified number of travelers have reportedly been killed following a suspected bomb explosion along the Yar’Tasha–Dansadau road in Maru Local Government Area of Zamfara State.

Zamfara State Police Public Relations Officer, Yazid Abubakar, confirmed the incident to Daily Post, noting that it occurred on Saturday afternoon. He added that details are still emerging.

“I can confirm that there was a blast in that area, but the incident just happened. I can’t provide details yet. I will update you later,” Abubakar said in a telephone interview.

Residents suspect that the bomb may have been planted by bandits who have been wreaking havoc across the state. A video circulating online shows travelers in panic as they scramble to flee the area.
