Aisha Yesufu Openly Attacks NDC Leaders
Human rights activist Aisha Yesufu has openly challenged leaders of the Nigeria Democratic Congress over the handling of the FCT senatorial primary.
In a viral video, she accused party officials of failing to keep promises made about the process and questioned the credibility of the exercise.
The confrontation centred on the party’s decision not to award her the FCT ticket, with officials reportedly pointing to her late entry into the party.
Yesufu expressed disappointment, saying commitments made by party leaders were not honoured and that aspirants were not treated fairly.
She maintained that she remained in the race until the end and was willing to accept defeat if the contest had been transparent.
According to her, the process was altered several times, with changes to venues and voting arrangements that left many participants dissatisfied.
Despite her complaints, Yesufu said she would not challenge the outcome in court.
She insisted that the experience exposed weaknesses in the party’s internal democratic process and has sparked fresh debate about transparency ahead of the 2027 elections.
