Enugu Federal College Lecturers Begins Warning Strike
Academic activities at the Federal College of Education, Eha-Amufu, Enugu State, have been suspended after members of the Colleges of Education Academic Staff Union began a two-week warning strike.
The action started on June 3 following unresolved disputes between the union and the college management.
The lecturers accused the Provost and management team of failing to address concerns raised in a seven-day ultimatum issued on May 21.
According to the union, repeated efforts to secure action on the issues did not produce any meaningful response.
The decision to embark on the strike was reached during an emergency congress held on June 2.
Union leaders warned that the warning strike could lead to an indefinite shutdown of the institution if the grievances remain unresolved after the two-week period.
To enforce compliance, the union set up a monitoring team and directed members to suspend lectures and academic assessments.
Relevant authorities, including the Education Ministry, governing council, student leaders and security agencies, were formally notified of the industrial action.
