An improvised explosive device (IED) reportedly exploded at a mosque in Gamboru Main Market, Maiduguri, Borno State, on Wednesday evening while worshippers were observing Maghrib prayers around 6:00 pm.
The mosque, a regular gathering place for traders and shoppers from the bustling Gamboru market, was struck in the attack, causing panic among those present.
Residents noted that Maiduguri had not experienced a similar blast in recent times, making this incident particularly alarming.
Attempts to contact the Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Keneth Daso, for details were unsuccessful at the time of reporting.
