Court Ruling On INEC Will Trigger APC Defection – ADC
The African Democratic Congress has reacted to a Federal High Court decision that struck out parts of the Independent National Electoral Commission timetable for the 2027 elections.
The party said the ruling could reshape political movements ahead of the polls.
The ADC made the statement on Thursday through its National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, who said the judgment supports the party’s earlier concerns about the electoral guidelines.
It argued that the timelines placed on party primaries and membership registration were too strict.
The party said the court decision removes barriers that could have limited political participation and freedom of movement among parties.
It added that this outcome may encourage more politicians to consider switching platforms before the elections.
The ADC further stated that it expects increased defections from the ruling party in the coming days.
It also welcomed the judgment, saying it would allow for wider participation in the 2027 general elections.
