Gunmen Storm Badeggi Radio Station
Gunmen attacked Badeggi Radio in Minna, Niger State, during a late-night invasion at the National Television Authority compound where the station operates.
The incident happened on May 16, 2026, and has raised concerns over possible targeted aggression.
The Chief Executive Officer of the station, Shuaibu Baddeggi, said the motive behind the attack is still unclear.
He suggested it may be linked to perceptions that the station is not aligned with certain interests, although no proof has been established.
Security personnel within the compound responded quickly, forcing the attackers to flee.
Only minor damage, including a cut section of barbed wire, was recorded, and no staff member was reported injured.
Authorities in Minna have begun investigations into the incident.
The attack comes amid ongoing tension between the station and the Niger State Government over earlier allegations concerning its broadcasts and a past shutdown order.
