Enugu Unveils Coal Power Plan
The Enugu State Government has revealed plans to start building a 660MW coal-fired power plant in July.
Governor Peter Mbah announced the project during a meeting with private sector players in the state.
The plan is part of efforts to improve electricity supply and support economic activity.
The project is expected to take about two years to complete after construction begins. State officials said it will provide steady power for homes and industries.
The government also hopes it will reduce pressure on the national grid and boost local production.
Authorities explained that preparations for the project have been ongoing for some time. Studies were carried out to confirm coal availability and its suitability for power generation.
Enugu coal is said to have qualities that make it useful for energy production.
Business leaders in the state welcomed the development and expressed support for the project.
They believe it could improve investment conditions and create a more stable power supply for companies operating in Enugu.
