Peter Obi Calls For Tinubu’s Resignation
Presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to resign, citing what he described as failures in governance and drawing comparisons with political accountability in other countries, including the United Kingdom.
Obi made the remark while referring to the resignation announcement of British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, using it as an example of how leaders in other democracies respond to public pressure and political responsibility.
He argued that leadership should come with accountability and that poor performance in office should lead to stepping aside rather than continuing in power.
His comments have added fresh tension to ongoing political debates in Nigeria.
The presidency has yet to respond to the statement as reactions continue to trail Obi’s position across political circles and the public.
