Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan (PDP, Kogi Central) has stated that she is now prepared to prove her sexual harassment allegations against the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio.
She made this known after acknowledging the receipt of a N200 billion defamation suit filed against her by the Senate President in Abuja on Friday.
According to her, Akpabio’s lawsuit has now created the opportunity she was previously denied by the Senate Ethics and Privileges Committee to present her claims before a competent court.
In a statement issued by the Kogi Central Senator, she said that the court process has provided the avenue she has long been waiting for.
The female senator added that she intends to demonstrate that she was sexually harassed and that her refusal to yield to the alleged advances resulted in prolonged political hostility directed at her.
“See you in court, Godswill Akpabio,” she said.
The Senate President had earlier instituted a N200 billion defamation action against Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, accusing her of circulating damaging allegations that he sexually harassed her.
Court documents from the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory show that Akpabio is seeking significant damages, public retractions, and broadcast apologies across the country, maintaining that her claims severely harmed his reputation and exposed him to widespread condemnation.
The lawsuit, which contains a detailed Statement of Claim and a list of witnesses, alleges that Senator Akpoti’s interviews aired on television, radio, and online, portrayed the Senate President as someone who abused his office for personal gain.
Akpabio argues that millions of Nigerians viewed or listened to the interviews, resulting in backlash, which he describes as deeply damaging, humiliating, and distressing.
He is requesting that the court mandate the removal of all online content containing the allegations and order multiple days of broadcast apologies across major media platforms.
A court order dated 6 November 2025 permitted the claimant to serve legal documents on Senator Akpoti through the Clerk of the National Assembly, after previous direct service attempts failed.
The case is now set to proceed, with both sides preparing for what is anticipated to become one of Nigeria’s most closely monitored political legal disputes.
