Lagos APC Members Reject Candidate Plot
Members of the All Progressives Congress in Bariga, Lagos, have protested the outcome of the party’s primary for Somolu Constituency 02, alleging plans to sideline the candidate they claim won the exercise.
The dispute has opened a fresh crack within the ruling party ahead of the 2027 elections.
The controversy followed the House of Assembly primary, where supporters of incumbent lawmaker Samuel Olufemi Apata said he secured a commanding victory across the constituency.
They argued that the results clearly placed him ahead of other aspirants.
Party stakeholders accused unnamed leaders of attempting to replace the winner with another aspirant who finished far behind in the vote count.
They warned that such a move could create division and weaken the party’s support base in the area.
The aggrieved members have appealed to the APC leadership to uphold the primary results and recognise Apata’s mandate.
They argued that respecting the outcome would help maintain unity and strengthen the party ahead of the next general election.
